Wool Weaving Creative Workshop

I am excited to be offering my first workshop in conjunction with the countryside regeneration trust.  We will spend the morning creating Tuffets on a peg loom using a mixture of Jacob and Portland fleece, so they will be more colourful than my standard tuffets.

You will learn traditional techniques for preparing the fleece for weaving, setting up a simple peg loom and then using uncarded wool fibre to create a beautiful natural tuffet to take home.

The workshop runs from 10am – 1pm on Saturday 1st July 2023.

We will be working in a barn at Bere Marsh Farm, Shillingstone, Dorset.  All materials will be provided.  Please book on the Events page on the CRT website.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Textile Talks

I give talks and demonstrations on natural dyeing, fibre processing and preparation, nalbinding and spinning for projects.  Additionally, if you want to learn more about the textiles and colours from history from the Neolithic period to the present day, please get in touch.

As an ex-Science teacher and senior lecturer, I am very experienced in teaching practical subjects to people of all ages and levels. I love to share the fibre knowledge I have gained over the last 40 years.  I demonstrate my skills as part of the Ancient Wessex Network.  We specialise in Prehistoric crafts and I demonstrate all the fibre crafts.  At home, I also use homegrown organic plant dyes to create amazing colours on yarns and fibres.  Who said there was no colour in prehistory?

Happy Crafting.
